The water rates pay for more than just the water we receive from Forney. It must also help pay for the water plant, repairs, maintenance, district operators (Severn Trent), consultants, engineers, lawyer, bookkeeper, auditor, roads, fire hydrants and much more that is required of the district. The Basic Service charge includes the cost of trash and recycling as well. Our infrastructure is nearing eight years in age, and we have already begun to experience the need for repairs due to the fluctuating Texas weather. For example, ground shifting from droughts and floods takes its toll on the pipes in the same way as the shifting foundation of your house.
